Vancouver June
can anyone recommend a dinner cruise and a dinner train in Vancouver?

Will be in Vancouver from June 19, June 22 from Tuesday to Friday. We thoroughly enjoy dinner cruises, dinner … also trains, as strange as this sounds … we like to eat at the revolving restaurant too ….. If Vancouver has a revolving restuarant? Thanks

Top of Vancouver Restaurant in downtown Port Tower is Great. This is 553 above the road and makes a complete revolution every hour, with a breathtaking View. They have a great menu. If you are looking for a dinner train, the best thing to do is just and the Pacific Starlight Dinner Train. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's even still running. You can also check the Rocky Mountaineer or Whistler Mountaineer trains. I would suggest dinner cruises http://www.boatcruises.com/sunset.html Harbour Cruises or Cruise salmon barbecue at the Pride of Vancouver http://www.vancouvercharters.com/index.html

Tour of Vancouver Island British Columbia Rainforest: Discovering the Rainforest Beyond the trees with a Biologist

British Columbia Vancouver Island Tours Rainforest

When you take a rainforest tour on Vancouver Island, it is difficult to take your eyes Off the giant mossy trees glowing like stained glass in the cathedral of nature. Some of the highest span 90 meters, while others measure as much as 20 meters in circumference. More than 1000 years old, the oldest are impressive to be sure. But do not get a fold of the neck, focusing on the trees. You might miss the amazing diversity of plants and animals of the Pacific old growth temperate rainforest has to offer.

Even with eyes closed there is a moist, fresh fragrance that enables mosses and lichens clinging to the branches of tree to grow so well. More layered canopy, forest openings with berries and other pioneer species, dead standing trees with holes for owls, bats, squirrels, and nut hatches are just some of the points salient.

For flowers, April and May are great times to see what's thriving in the ancient rainforest. coral root orchid Calypso trilliums, wild cherry, elder flowers and berries salmon some of which can be found in the spring. In June and lasting in September, you can also enjoy the parade of beautiful berries that result from this profusion of flowers. (Be sure to bring a short field or an expert to avoid any poisonous plants.) There are some very tasty and nutritious plants like stinging nettle (cooked) and many medicines as well.

If you slow down and look down … down under the sheets of bark in summer see a menagerie of colorful creatures. The Black and yellow millipede smell is reminiscent of cherries when handled. While the slight puff of cyanide is harmless to humans, it would prove fatal for others its size that they chose to mess with it. Then there are the giant banana slugs hermaphrodites, which are to be 25cm long. Their slime is a natural anesthetic, if you happen to have a toothache while lost in the forest. The red salamanders delicate and confidential support to live their entire lives in rotten logs. Actually there are over 92 species of animals, insects, and birds using dead trees in the forest.

In April, the woods are full of singing birds in spring, especially early in the morning and you can see many species that prefer older forests as varied thrushes, brown creepers and Pileated woodpeckers. If you're lucky and around dawn or dusk you may hear or see a sing western, northern saw-whet owls or northern pygmy-owl. Birding in the rainforest with trees that extend above to 20 stories presents its challenges. It 'nice to have a flow-angled eyepiece or lie on your back with binoculars to save the neck. Many species can be called to levels more visible with its call or a 'psss' sound. There are some excellent recordings of bird calls from Vancouver Island by John Neville which greatly assist in identifying those ghosts that hover on top of the tree canopy.

The mild climate of Vancouver Island means that can experience the rainforest wonders all year. The rainy Season begins gradually triggering the explosion of a techno-colored mushrooms in September and October. November brings torrential rains that produce such fantastic growth and bring out the many shades of vibrant green mosses in reconstituting a dry summer. Haze fog and rain makes the atmosphere of the novel and the photo opportunities.
